June is in Bloom!

June is in Bloom //

I know I haven't updated in a few months. April, May and June have been crazy busy.

I'm training 3-4 days a week now in film combat techniques, martial arts, boxing, kick-boxing and weapons handling! I loooove it so much. I saw Maggie Q from WB's Nikita the other day in the Meatpacking District .... I want her job so bad :) Maybe one day, when she retires from that role.. hehee.

I'm working on a new action short called "Hot Date" with Mako San Productions and it's going to look great! Really enjoying learning new techniques, working on getting my kicks higher and "selling the shots" on camera. Not easy! I am getting used to being sore everyday from now on. But, there are only upsides - I'm getting stronger, more fit and overall healthier.

Besides the action //
I've been auditioning for more commercials this month. Got 2 callbacks for national SAG commercials in May, my first auditions for SAG national commercials, and my first 2 callbacks -- so yay! I'm learning a lot and that's all I hope for, to continually learn, improve, apply what I've learned and keep getting better so that I may reach my goals and aspirations.

Also, just completed filming a pilot for a romantic-comedy webseries called Is It Me? // I play a very fun character: her name is IZZY or ISABELLE, and she is a bi-sexual woman who cannot commit to anything: job or relationship-wise. It's definitely a new role and a switch up from all the bad-ass action stuff I've been doing. I hope to see it excel and succeed. It should be up on IMDB soon and I received my first Taft-Hartley for it, making me SAG Eligible now.

Jumping to the next genre //
TURN the feature film I'm involved in this summer has started filming. I play a ferocious werewolf, LYCA. Our trailer will be up soon and our costumes are being profesionally made! I've been obsessed with HBO's True Blood, so getting the chance to play a character in a vampire/werewolf film is wicked!

And the BIGGEST NEWS OF ALL:

I quit my day job. I left in all good terms of course! But, it's time to focus on this 200% and I am here to do just that. Carpe Diem.

Wish me luck!

xoxo

March Madness

Can't believe it's mid-March already!

Just finished with The A-Style Reality Show premiering on YouTube on the Poyzen TV channel March 18th, 2013!

Be sure to check it out -- and comment :)

I've also been hosting for Style Music TV online -- we're covering the hottest events in NYC. I hope to be working with them more closely this year. Recently, just went to the Samsuny Galaxy 4s launch at Radio City Music Hall Thursday night and the new phone is very impressive! It had me looking at my iPhone more closely!

Up next, I'll be covering a food event on Tuesday -- more pics to follow on that :)

Check out StyleMusic.TV to check out my interviews -- The backstage interviews of the Asian in NY fashion show are up now.

....

Ikenhisu II and S.E.A.L.S are still filming and I cannot wait to unveil the fight scene we shot last month. The editor is taking his time making it perfect for all of you

...

Also wrapped up Century 21 with filmmaker Vincent Shrekli, you can find that on IMDB and we will be having our screening in Tribeca in the next couple months. Just in time for warmer weather I hope.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2640806/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

...

Tomorrow, I have a film screening of my film "Three of One Kind" at the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan. This was a long time in the making -- I am so nervous to see myself on the big screen for the first time. gulp.

...

Those are all March updates!!
I can smell the spring air already -- one of my favorite seasons. Hope this is the last snowfall of the year. I want sunshine!

February -- IN LOVE!

February is flying by!

I cannot believe it's the 23rd already ... but that's great news, because it means warmer weather is coming.

We filmed my fight scene with my co-star Laura Aguinaga two weeks ago for Ikenhisu II in a very very cold warehouse up in the Bronx! It's looking like an awesome fight scene.. I'll give you a hint // black vs. white //

The A-Style team was also at that shoot and filmed me behind the scenes for new episodes of The A-Style Season 2 // premiering March 18th!

The launch party is coming up too -- at The Moon Room in the meatpacking district on Friday, March 15th

Here is the FB EVENT LINK -- HTTP://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/EVENTS/482291731833177/

GET YOUR TICKETS AND COME JOIN US!

IT WILL ALSO BE THE LAUNCH PARTY FOR POYZEN TV'S DRAMATIC SERIES // CHINATOWN

AND THE OFFICIAL KICKOFF FUNDRAISER FOR SONDRA ANDERSON'S ORGANIZATION // THE UNITED ADOPTEES HAVEN

Tonight, I'll be at the 8th Annual Asian in NY Fashion Show at New York Law School! I'll be backstage interviewing everyone!

I'm so excited for this opportunity :)

A couple days ago, I modeled for a very talented photographer who goes to the International Center of Photography, I cannot wait to see those pictures. I will post them up as soon as I get them in my hands! He was amazing.

Next up -- Filming begins for 21st Century -- "an ensemble piece focusing on characters who manage to strive vigourously at the height of the 21st Century"

Then, shooting a web-series for a very talented SVA student -- a lot like the style of the HBO show GIRLS.

And, an experimental piece for my friend Brandon Cotter -- a time-lapse // lens whacking // experimental short about a girl coping with a robbery rape.

I'm super stoked for all these projects. And I cannot wait to show the world!!

That's all folks! I gotta get ready for my event now!

Much Love,

// V //

2013 is starting off with a BANG!

Happy New Year everyone!

It's been an extraordinary January thus far.

Production on Ikenhisu II and S.E.A.L.S commences this month. We are shooting all month long into February and will be releasing Episode 2 in the upcoming months!

I am continuing to train on weapons, double sword and hand-to-hand combat techniques. I love training so much and look forward to it every week. The next episode is going to be amazing.

Also......

I have an amazing opportunity to work with POYZEN TV on Season 2 of their reality show "The A-Style" which follows 4 Asian girls as they pursue their dreams in The Big Apple. I am one of the four castmates this season, which will premiere on their YouTube Channel March 15, 2013.

Updates November 2012

A few days ago, on Tuesday night: Hurricane Sandy hit New York City and surrounding areas, especially NJ, hard. Her wrath was felt all over the east coast and left lower Manhattan without power, shut down trains, ruined coastal areas, caused blazing fires and left 7 million plus people without electricity and running water.

My family and I were very lucky to have no damage to our apartment and our neighborhood. I cannot say that for the rest of the people suffering in New York and my heart goes out to them.

New York is recovering and so am I. October was a whirlwind of a month!

I'm taking November to give some time for myself to reflect and relax a little bit. Spend time with family and friends that I have missed <3 And to work silently. I think that's important.

On hiatus now for a little bit for Ikenhisu II. I am training in the double sword that Masami predominantly uses in her fight scenes as her weapon of choice. It's been a challenge getting my left side and my right side to work in sync! I'm learning how to be ambidextrous and trying to do more activities with my left hand to facilitate my progress.

Next up is S.E.A.L.S, once everyone recovers from the storm, we will try and schedule a shoot date for one of the first scenes of S.E.A.L.S Episode 2.

In the meantime, there is an interview out of myself and 2 of the girls from Ikenhisu II on Blip TV. It's called Indie Action Showcase. I will post it up on my video wall later when I receive the embed link.

But, here is the link to it now: http://blip.tv/indie-action-showcase/indie-action-showcase-epsd-7-ikenhisu-ll-6423308 (copy and paste into your browser)

The Secret Vortex also wrote an article about NYC Comic Con 2012. It features myself and Laura from Ikenhisu II and S.E.A.L.S - It's a great article and encompasses the excitement of Comic Con very well.

NY Comic Con 2012 is officially over!

Wow. Comic Con far exceeded my expectations. It was my first year there and I did not know what to expect but .... our booth "ASC Troopers Touch Entertainment" was packed with fans! I was so happy to meet all my fans this weekend and they were so supportive!

I had a great experience this weekend that will continue to push me to work harder and keep exploring, creating and learning.

I will be posting the Comic Con Promo of Ikenhisu II tonight under my videos tab!

Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

In the meantime, please like and visit my FB Fan Page: www.Facebook.com/Bontea.Vanessa

I will be uploading picutres from Comic Con 2012 there.

Highlights of the weekend included: interviews with Media Mogul, MTA for PBS special airing in December 2012, interviews with The Shaw Report, and Sci Fi Ninja Theater. Seeing so many incredible costumes! Getting my photograph taken by SuperHero Photographer Adam Jay and meeting all the fans!

The girls and I also made it to "The Sexiest Cosplay Women of NYCC 2012" on Evolveent.com!

Next up: I am reshooting Tape Me: Reel 1, a 6 part horror series by CEO Productions. Getting ready to get bloodied up and mercilessly murdered by a serial killer by the name of Faceless. Just in time for Halloween!

Love,
Vanessa

New York Comic Con 2012 @ Jacob Javits Center

New York Comic Con 2012 is in a week!

Come find us at Booth #2079 at the Jacob Javits Center on October 11-14.

We will be selling and signing posters & calendars.

...............................................................................................

I'm so excited! I've never been to Comic Con before and I cannot wait to see what it's like, especially everyone in costumes.

The promotional DVD for Ikenhisu II is being edited right now. Plus, I haven't even seen the calendar photos yet! So, all exciting things to come.

I'm really blessed and will keep everyone updated next week!

Also, I will be looking for an online venue to sell posters to those that cannot attend Comic Con.

Thanks for you support!

Love,

Vanessa

Ikenhisu II: Comic Con Promo

just wrapped up a 13 hour shoot for Ikenhisu II yesterday!

We shot 2 incredible fight scenes. One outdoor and one indoors. These will be edited along with "Behind the Scenes" footage from our 2012 Ikenhisu II Calendar photo shoot, training sessions in the studio and an Indie Action Showcase interview set for next week.

The promotional DVD will be sold along with our calendars at New York Comic Con 2012 at the Jacob Javits Center from October 12-14 ... that's coming up!

I told the director, L'amard J. Wingster and my trainer and choreographer, Demetrius, that even when this project wraps ... I definitely still want to continue in martial arts. I've completely fallen in love with it!

Stay tuned! I have many updates and projects coming up that I want to share with you all.
